Ed and Betty King

Ed and Betty King

Dream Builders are caring individuals who have remembered All Children's Hospital Foundation and its mission in their long- range financial plans. Whether made as an irrevocable or revocable gift, a Dream Builders gift has the same result: building miracles for tomorrow's children today. Betty and Ed King of Bradenton are among our ACH Dream Builders. Their story paints a picture of the vision our Dream Builders share for the children we serve.

The Kings have been friends of the hospital for more than ten years and are very aware of the importance of giving back to the community. Betty and Ed have been together for more than 30 years, and their family comes first. By example, they make sure their grandchildren understand the heart of philanthropy and have the opportunity for the same kind of education that Betty and Ed worked so hard for in New York, where they first met. They are advocates of the arts in Bradenton, answering the call for support from the orchestra and local museums. But their top concern is for the complex healthcare needs of children. They are advocates of All Children's lifesaving work, and know that the Hospital's reach extends far beyond St. Petersburg to help children from across Florida's west coast.

When the Kings learned of the scope and details of the new All Children's Hospital, they understood the impact the new facility will have on children who may have nowhere else to turn to for specialized care. They wanted to set an example of philanthropy in the community and as a legacy to their family. Betty decided to direct her next charitable gift annuity to fund the Campaign for All Children. Being a part of All Children's efforts to reach children in need closer to home is very important to them both.

After a recent serious illness, Betty took time to consider why she was healed and still here with us. "I have lived a long and happy life; I considered why I was still here when God takes even innocent children who are just at the start of their journey." That's when Betty realized that "maybe I am still here because I have more to give: more love and more support for the life saving work of All Children's."

Betty is exceptional in her care and compassion for the children who turn to All Children's Hospital. We are grateful to Betty, Ed and the King family for their generosity and forethought. With their gift they are truly helping tomorrow's children today.
